S = Sincerity… having genuine interest in sensitivity to client issues.
O = Objectivity… the objective of the project is always #1.
L = Love… designers/ art directors must love what they do and have passion for their work.
U = Understand… comprehending the problem to be solved and work in harmony.
T = Trust…perhaps the most important part of the designer/client relationship.
 I =  Integrity… unwavering adherence to one’s code of moral and artistic values.
O = Opportunity… to promote and shape the clients message and image.
N = Negotiate… having sharp skills here is a must for successful outcomes.
S = Sense of humor… “TO SURVIVE !.”

This is certainly not meant to be an exhaustive list of attributes but rather to provide a glimpse


into the complexity of the profession of graphic design and the designer/ client relationship.


Technology and speed certainly dictate new challenges in design, and it is imperative that


designers assimilate knowledge and skills in these areas. However, in my opinion,


traditional values prevail as bottom line. I would like to thank my colleagues for


helping to point me in the right direction.
